It's Tuesday! You Know What That Means!

Sorry I haven't been posting that much this week but I have been CRAZY busy and other than that I've been trying to catch up on my sleep haha.

Cosmetology school has been amazing this week! We learned how to cut hair which was scary and fun all at the same time. I learned how to cut a blunt cut, a forward and backward blunt cut, the 45 degree angle cut and the 180 degree cut which is also called "long layers".
Friday was so tiring because we had to shampoo our manikins, perfect 4 different cuts (which I cut perfectly each time) and round brush and blow dry each time! We were on our feet literally from 9 in the morning until 6:30 but it was fun.
When I'm cutting hair I kinda go into this "zone" where I don't really hear anyone talking to me or anything I'm just focused on the hair, Kristin had to yell at me to get my attention at one point!

Other than that I've been pretty boring....however since it is Tuesday you know what that means!
VIDEO TUESDAY!!! I just now loaded a new video on my channel (and now on here), its a quick back to school morning makeup look! Here is a list of the products I used:

New Foundation Brush Love!

I got a new foundation brush yesterday after hearing about it from this girl I watch on YouTube (who would've guessed). Her name is Carah and you can watch her videos here:

www.youtube.com/carahamelia

Anyway...they brush I'm talking about is the Physicians Formula Kabuki Brush. It cost me right around $12 from Ulta but I'm not real sure where else you can get it because I looked at CVS and they don't sell them :/. It's just a flat top kabuki brush witha brilliant blue handle and really dense, short, soft hairs.

Now on the packaging it says "powder" brush but I didn't really like it for powder one bit, it made me look cakey, but for foundation it is a DREAM. I don't really like applying foundation with a brush because all of the ones I've tried made me look streaky or cakey. NOT THIS ONE! It gives you a nice "air brushed" finish, just dot your face with foundation and gently buff it in using small circular motions.

The only thing I don't like about it is the hairs are extreamly thick and dense so when I wash the brush it seems like it would take FOREVER to dry...but we will see.

I love this brush...whoever thought I would rave about a brush! haha
If any of you have a problem with foundation brushes, get this one!

Oh and if your wondering why I'm posting this so early its because I had some free time before school and I hate just sitting around so..yeah....anyway....have a great Wednesday everyone and have a good day at school all you younger people :)

Nail Time: World's Best Top Coat

For years I have been on the search for the perfect Top Coat for my nails.
I wanted one that made my nails look really shiney and dried at pretty much the speed of sound. You have no idea how hard something like that is to find!!! The ones that made my nails look shiney took 20 million years to dry, which is no good since I have a hard time sitting still, and the ones that dried really fast left my nails looking dull and just blah. What's a girl to do?!

Last week I went to Sally's Beauty Supply store to get some acetone nail polish remover (I had some seriously stubborn polish on!) and while I was there I figured I would look at the top coats since I get a discount there for going to Milan. I had heard of a really good top coat from this girl I watch on YouTube her name is Blair Fowler and her screen name is juicystar07. She recomended Seche Vite top coat because like me she has a hard time sitting still (you can tell from her videos the poor girl barely breaths when she talks haha).
Anyway they had it at Sallys so I decided to pick it up.

Ok seriously...this top coat is....the bees knees!!! No joke I painted my nails, put this on and about 15 min later I took a shower and there was no smudging or marks or anything and they looked SOOO shiney almost like they were wet, ya know what I mean? I will never go back to a different top coat again! Here's what my nails look like with this top coat on...just FYI the pictures don't do it justice.

oh and if your wondering what polishes I have on I have on Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lively Lilac and Revlon Top Speed in Stormy.

So go out and buy this top coat ASAP! Oh also I'll have a video up tomorrow of my "Drug store favorites" so keep an eye out!

Have a great Monday people

Come To School With Me

This week at Milan we learned how to do "home made facials", which is we only used natural ingredients in all our facials.

It was pretty funny and pretty messy! Here is a full ingrediant list of everything we used and how they work:

First we did a Cheerio, Honey and Lemon Juice facial and what you need to do is:
In a blender, frind 1 cup of Cheerios into a fine powder (some chunks remaining is ok).
In a bowl mix powdered Cheerios, Honey and Lemon Juice (real or concentrate) until it forms a thick paste.
Apply and let dry for about 10 min then rinse with warm water.
This mixture absorbs oil, cleanses pores and moisturizes the skin.

Next we did Tidy-Cat Litter facials. I know, I know this sounds really gross but actually the clay in cat litter acts just like a clay mask. Whuch helps exfoliate the skin and detoxifies pores.
Mix about 1 cup of cat litter with enough water to make a muddy paste.
Apply to the face and let sit for 20 min or until fully dry. It will be a grayish green color when it's dry.
Gently scrub face with a warm towel and then rinse with warm water.
This one was really weird but afterwards my face actually felt smoother and my pores looked tighter...hmm...who would've thought

Then we did a Honey and Oatmeal mask:
Mix 1 cup of dry oats with enough honey to form a thick but spreadable paste.
If it's too thick you may have to add a few drops of water.
Apply to the face and let sit for 10 min.
Rinse with warm water.
This draws oils from the skin and helps moisturize.

Finally we did an Apple Sauce facial:
For this one all you need is any run of the mill apple sauce.
Apply to the face and let sit for 30 min
Rinse with warm water
Apple sauce helps moisturize the skin and also helps with any discoloration

This was really fun and interesting! I even think I would do some of what we learned at home (not the cat litter haha)
I'm going to have a video up of everything we did on my YouTube channel

Have a fantastic Sunday everyone!

Studying Sucks!

For some people (my friend Tory is a great example) school and book work comes very naturally and they don't have to work very hard to get good grades, I unfortunatly am not one of those people.
My whole life I have had to work extreamly hard if I wanted on the "A Honor Roll" and working hard SUCKS! As you may know I have the attention span of a hummingbird with ADD so studying has never been my strong suit haha.

I have my first exam on Wednesday and it has taken everything in me to sit down and actually look at my book instead of watching YouTube, messing around on  Facebook or any of the other evil media distractions (although I did take a break to type this haha)

Here is a picture of what my "study" workspace looks like....

(as you can see I'm uploading a video to YouTube)

I just wanna say I hate people that don't have to study and make good grades haha
It takes all that ^^ and zero distractions for me to be a halfway decent student.

Anyway I better get back to the books!

Have a good rest of your Monday :)

My First Week of Cosmetology School!

Sorry I've been absent for so long but this past week was my first week of Cosmetology School!!
I go to school from 8am-6:30pm...whew!

It was a pretty tiring week but I also had a lot of fun! We got our uniforms which are purple shirts and black pants...yuck but it could be worse. The other girls in my class are really nice (except some are kinda...crazy) and I made a lot of new friends.

Here is what my Wednesday, Thursdays, and Fridays are going to look like for the next 12 months:
8:00am-Noon: Book work, homework and tests
12:00-12:30: Lunch (if your late they will kill you haha)
12:30-2:00: Go over the next chapter and what is going to be on our state boards, demonstrations of what we are learning that day (ex. facials)
2:00-5:30: We work on our maniquins or our partners and practice what we are learning on each other. If we have any free time we can wash, dry, style, each other's hair.
5:30-6:30: Daily chores (cleaning up) and grades.

This week we started out doing facials, we learned the proper way to massage a client and the proper steps to giving a facial.

(our Facial kit)

On Friday we also learned a little about makeup application (which I already know most of) and we had a "Fantasy Makeup Challenge" which was SOOOOO FUN!!! Here are some pictures of what everyone looked like...

My partner Kristin, I did her makeup and her hair was HUGE

we look sexy in our Uniforms

Here is what she did on me

2 Other girls in my class Zandalee and Dani

I was beyond proud of my work on Friday and I was so excited to see everyone else's projects. I am really loving Cosmo school and I really love attending class with people that like the same things as me and enjoy talking about makeup and hair like I do.

I'm hoping I can film what we are learning that week and post it on my YouTube channel but we will see if they will allow it.
I can't wait to show you guys all of what I'm learning!
