It's Tuesday! You Know What That Means!

Sorry I haven't been posting that much this week but I have been CRAZY busy and other than that I've been trying to catch up on my sleep haha.

Cosmetology school has been amazing this week! We learned how to cut hair which was scary and fun all at the same time. I learned how to cut a blunt cut, a forward and backward blunt cut, the 45 degree angle cut and the 180 degree cut which is also called "long layers".
Friday was so tiring because we had to shampoo our manikins, perfect 4 different cuts (which I cut perfectly each time) and round brush and blow dry each time! We were on our feet literally from 9 in the morning until 6:30 but it was fun.
When I'm cutting hair I kinda go into this "zone" where I don't really hear anyone talking to me or anything I'm just focused on the hair, Kristin had to yell at me to get my attention at one point!

Other than that I've been pretty boring....however since it is Tuesday you know what that means!
VIDEO TUESDAY!!! I just now loaded a new video on my channel (and now on here), its a quick back to school morning makeup look! Here is a list of the products I used:
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Ulta Eye Shadow Palette
HIP Creme Liner in Brown
Wet n' Wild Pencil Liner in Dark Brown
Dior Show Mascara
Revlon Lipstick in Fuschia
Nyx Matte Lip Cremes in Addis Ababa

I hope you enjoy this video and have a great Tuesday! If you have any questions or comments let me know!

New Foundation Brush Love!

I got a new foundation brush yesterday after hearing about it from this girl I watch on YouTube (who would've guessed). Her name is Carah and you can watch her videos here:

Anyway...they brush I'm talking about is the Physicians Formula Kabuki Brush. It cost me right around $12 from Ulta but I'm not real sure where else you can get it because I looked at CVS and they don't sell them :/. It's just a flat top kabuki brush witha brilliant blue handle and really dense, short, soft hairs.

Now on the packaging it says "powder" brush but I didn't really like it for powder one bit, it made me look cakey, but for foundation it is a DREAM. I don't really like applying foundation with a brush because all of the ones I've tried made me look streaky or cakey. NOT THIS ONE! It gives you a nice "air brushed" finish, just dot your face with foundation and gently buff it in using small circular motions.

The only thing I don't like about it is the hairs are extreamly thick and dense so when I wash the brush it seems like it would take FOREVER to dry...but we will see.

I love this brush...whoever thought I would rave about a brush! haha
If any of you have a problem with foundation brushes, get this one!

Oh and if your wondering why I'm posting this so early its because I had some free time before school and I hate just sitting around so..yeah....anyway....have a great Wednesday everyone and have a good day at school all you younger people :)

Nail Time: World's Best Top Coat

For years I have been on the search for the perfect Top Coat for my nails.
I wanted one that made my nails look really shiney and dried at pretty much the speed of sound. You have no idea how hard something like that is to find!!! The ones that made my nails look shiney took 20 million years to dry, which is no good since I have a hard time sitting still, and the ones that dried really fast left my nails looking dull and just blah. What's a girl to do?!

Last week I went to Sally's Beauty Supply store to get some acetone nail polish remover (I had some seriously stubborn polish on!) and while I was there I figured I would look at the top coats since I get a discount there for going to Milan. I had heard of a really good top coat from this girl I watch on YouTube her name is Blair Fowler and her screen name is juicystar07. She recomended Seche Vite top coat because like me she has a hard time sitting still (you can tell from her videos the poor girl barely breaths when she talks haha).
Anyway they had it at Sallys so I decided to pick it up.

Ok seriously...this top coat is....the bees knees!!! No joke I painted my nails, put this on and about 15 min later I took a shower and there was no smudging or marks or anything and they looked SOOO shiney almost like they were wet, ya know what I mean? I will never go back to a different top coat again! Here's what my nails look like with this top coat on...just FYI the pictures don't do it justice.

oh and if your wondering what polishes I have on I have on Sally Hansen Insta-Dri in Lively Lilac and Revlon Top Speed in Stormy.

So go out and buy this top coat ASAP! Oh also I'll have a video up tomorrow of my "Drug store favorites" so keep an eye out!

Have a great Monday people

Come To School With Me

This week at Milan we learned how to do "home made facials", which is we only used natural ingredients in all our facials.

It was pretty funny and pretty messy! Here is a full ingrediant list of everything we used and how they work:

First we did a Cheerio, Honey and Lemon Juice facial and what you need to do is:
In a blender, frind 1 cup of Cheerios into a fine powder (some chunks remaining is ok).
In a bowl mix powdered Cheerios, Honey and Lemon Juice (real or concentrate) until it forms a thick paste.
Apply and let dry for about 10 min then rinse with warm water.
This mixture absorbs oil, cleanses pores and moisturizes the skin.

Next we did Tidy-Cat Litter facials. I know, I know this sounds really gross but actually the clay in cat litter acts just like a clay mask. Whuch helps exfoliate the skin and detoxifies pores.
Mix about 1 cup of cat litter with enough water to make a muddy paste.
Apply to the face and let sit for 20 min or until fully dry. It will be a grayish green color when it's dry.
Gently scrub face with a warm towel and then rinse with warm water.
This one was really weird but afterwards my face actually felt smoother and my pores looked tighter...hmm...who would've thought

Then we did a Honey and Oatmeal mask:
Mix 1 cup of dry oats with enough honey to form a thick but spreadable paste.
If it's too thick you may have to add a few drops of water.
Apply to the face and let sit for 10 min.
Rinse with warm water.
This draws oils from the skin and helps moisturize.

Finally we did an Apple Sauce facial:
For this one all you need is any run of the mill apple sauce.
Apply to the face and let sit for 30 min
Rinse with warm water
Apple sauce helps moisturize the skin and also helps with any discoloration

This was really fun and interesting! I even think I would do some of what we learned at home (not the cat litter haha)
I'm going to have a video up of everything we did on my YouTube channel

Have a fantastic Sunday everyone!

Studying Sucks!

For some people (my friend Tory is a great example) school and book work comes very naturally and they don't have to work very hard to get good grades, I unfortunatly am not one of those people.
My whole life I have had to work extreamly hard if I wanted on the "A Honor Roll" and working hard SUCKS! As you may know I have the attention span of a hummingbird with ADD so studying has never been my strong suit haha.

I have my first exam on Wednesday and it has taken everything in me to sit down and actually look at my book instead of watching YouTube, messing around on  Facebook or any of the other evil media distractions (although I did take a break to type this haha)

Here is a picture of what my "study" workspace looks like....

(as you can see I'm uploading a video to YouTube)

I just wanna say I hate people that don't have to study and make good grades haha
It takes all that ^^ and zero distractions for me to be a halfway decent student.

Anyway I better get back to the books!

Have a good rest of your Monday :)

My First Week of Cosmetology School!

Sorry I've been absent for so long but this past week was my first week of Cosmetology School!!
I go to school from 8am-6:30pm...whew!

It was a pretty tiring week but I also had a lot of fun! We got our uniforms which are purple shirts and black pants...yuck but it could be worse. The other girls in my class are really nice (except some are kinda...crazy) and I made a lot of new friends.

Here is what my Wednesday, Thursdays, and Fridays are going to look like for the next 12 months:
8:00am-Noon: Book work, homework and tests
12:00-12:30: Lunch (if your late they will kill you haha)
12:30-2:00: Go over the next chapter and what is going to be on our state boards, demonstrations of what we are learning that day (ex. facials)
2:00-5:30: We work on our maniquins or our partners and practice what we are learning on each other. If we have any free time we can wash, dry, style, each other's hair.
5:30-6:30: Daily chores (cleaning up) and grades.

This week we started out doing facials, we learned the proper way to massage a client and the proper steps to giving a facial.

(our Facial kit)

On Friday we also learned a little about makeup application (which I already know most of) and we had a "Fantasy Makeup Challenge" which was SOOOOO FUN!!! Here are some pictures of what everyone looked like...

My partner Kristin, I did her makeup and her hair was HUGE

we look sexy in our Uniforms

Here is what she did on me

2 Other girls in my class Zandalee and Dani

I was beyond proud of my work on Friday and I was so excited to see everyone else's projects. I am really loving Cosmo school and I really love attending class with people that like the same things as me and enjoy talking about makeup and hair like I do.

I'm hoping I can film what we are learning that week and post it on my YouTube channel but we will see if they will allow it.
I can't wait to show you guys all of what I'm learning!

Fuchsia Lips, I Think So

I love, love, LOVE bright lips! I will wear a bright red or pink lip even if it doesn't necessarily match haha
Today I am wearing a BRIGHT fuchsia lip and I love it.

My 2 favorite products (and not just for fuchsia lips, but lips in general) are Revlon Lipsticks and Nyx Cosmetics Matte Lip Cremes. Today I'm wearing the Revlon "030 Fuchsia" and over it I'm wearing the Nyx Lip Creme in "SML C07 Addis Ababa"

Here is what they look like on....

It's a lot brighter in person but I love this look! It looks good on anyone and adds a pop of color to any outfit. When your wearing a bright lip though make sure the rest of your makeup is pretty low key, I have on a peachy blush and a slightly winged out black liner on top.

Have a great time with this look!

Nail Time: My New Nail Addiction

Lets get one thing straight, as a girl I LOVE nail polish and usually polish my nails at least once maybe twice a week depending on my mood. It's safe to say I have tried A TON of nail polishes everything from super cheap nail polishes like NYC which are about $1 to really expensive polishes like Chanel which are like $13 a bottle.

However even though I polish my nails a lot that doesn't mean I'm overly patient, I have the attention span of a hummingbird with ADD. So I can't be bothered to wait more than 15 min for my nails to dry.

One day when I was at Walgreens about a year or 2 ago I stumbled upon this Sally Hansen nail polish called "Insta-Dry". They are about $5-$6 a bottle and they come in a ton of colors! I was a tad skeptical at first because usually stuff never comes out like it says but once I got it home and tried it (the first color I ever bought was the black I don't know what it is called) I fell head over heels in love with these polishes! So a few months back a bought a color called "Lively Lilac" from this same brand and it is my new nail addiction!

I love this color so much that I've worn it on my nails a couple times in a row (which a rarely do) and when I'm out I am definitly going to buy a new bottle.

Here is what it looks like on my nails...

I think this lavender color looks good on any skin tone but I think it would look really good on someone with olive or tan skin.
Another thing I love about this brand is the brush! It's a little thinner than a normal brush and its tapered to match the shape of your nail. The brush also holds polish really well!

These polishes are really thick which can be a good or bad thing depending, I like a really thick polish because I think they cover better but at the same time it is really easy to apply too much and then it gets "bubbley". The only big thing I don't like about it is since they are a quick drying polish they seem to dry up really fast in the bottle and get clumpy but considering this polish is really good and pretty fairly priced I think that's ok.

So if your into polish as much as me these are definitly worth the price plus you can get 2 of these for the price of high end polishes like Chanel. Go out and try some and tell me what you think :)

Cowboy+The Wendy's Girl=Outifit of the Day

As the title suggests I felt like dressing in an odd mixture today! Let me explain....

First my hair, whenever I get my hair dyed I don't really like to wash it for at least 3 days to let the dye "set". So basically all I did to it was I braided the under layers of my hair and left the top layer wavy like so....

It kinda looked like the Wendy's ad since I have really red hair haha. If think I should do an instructive video on this let me know :)

Next my makeup:
I have a sparkly champagne shadow from Ulta all over my lid and then a light brown shadow also from Ulta on my crease. Then I did a pretty heavy winged liner with Maybelline gel liner in "blackest black" ($10) and Nyx eye shadow in "black" ($6). As for mascara I'm using a really cheap and crappy mascara by Maybelline because I'm waiting for the new MAC mascara to come out on August 25th (I'll tell you more about it tomorrow).

As for my whole outfit:

Transformers Tee: JC Penny's ($5 on sale), I will have a "how-to cut your shirt into a tank top" video up soon
Shorts: Target ($15)
Boots: Rocket Dog ($50ish)
Bow Ring: Rue 21 ($12)
Lock Necklace: evesaddiction.com ($16 on sale)
Feather Necklace: Urban Outfitters ($20)

The cowboy aspect
That's really it! I really like this outfit and since its hotter than heck here its really cool and comfortable!

Happy Sunday everyone, stay cool and pray for rain :)

A day In the Life, Your Gonna Be Impressed!

So here was my Thursday in a nutshell:

Went and got my hair did! I dyed it my usual (as Kami calls it) "bright ass red". This is my hair artist Kami and she is the BEST hair dresser in all of Amarillo! If you would like to go to her let me know and I can hook you up haha!

Your day is not full filled unless you are wearing a huge sparkly bow ring. Got it at Rue 21 for $12

Poor Heather (aka Hello Kitty Purse) had to sit on the floor while I waited for my hair to process.

Then after I got home my family and I went and ate dinner at Cracker Barrel where we saw this broom that stood up by itself and cackled like a witch. In the photo is my lovely mother.

On the way home this was the temperature....

Later that night I went over to my best friend Kim's house and we played an epic game of "Life"! Whenever we play "Life" it usually gets violent between Kim's husband Colton and I because we are both very competitive haha.

(Kim and Kathryn)

Kathryn hit every "baby" space and she had 2 cars full of kids haha

Kim ended up winning the game and I came in last :(, I got no "Life" tiles and I had literally no money haha

Well that was my day in a nutshell! I hope you all have a great weekend!

Our Sunday Trip to the Traders Market

My best friend Kim and I went to some "traders market" on Sunday and let me just tell you they had some weird stuff!! Here is our trip in pictures

Love this love seat/chair

Super old organ

An intensly creepy doll! Kim was dancing with it

My awesome old feather hat!

Anyone want a coke?

Ok this next item is so freaking weird that I just stood there with my mouth open when Kim showed it to me...are you ready....

Ok this is a "Birthing Chair" and it has creepy naked babies carved all over it!! I mean could you imagine popping out a kid sitting in that chair? haha What's even more outragous is the price....

Oh yeah that's right, your eyes do not deceive you it is $100,000
I would really like to know how old this chair is but there was no one around, we were literally the only people there!

We had so much fun though and it was definitly entertaining!

Hope you guys have a great evening!!
